Lakshadweep is the name of the group of islands that are located off India's west coast and attract many tourists from all over the world. Tourist must have a special permit to be able to travel to the islands and foreigners are required to book their stay well in advance. Only three of the islands here are accessible by foreign tourists, which are Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat. Other islands can be visited by the Indian tourists that visit, although finding a place to stay at the other islands can be tough. There is only one airstrip located on the island of Agatti which has flights connecting it to cities like Bangalore and Kochi. There are also a number of ships that travel to the islands from Kochi and many tourists choose to travel here by sea. This could be inconvenient as ships sometimes have to leave the island a day early and the schedule is unreliable. Many tourists that visit the islands enjoy taking part in some of the wonderful activities here, like scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking.
Sightseeing can be a wonderful experience and there are some important attractions at the islands that offer you a chance to immerse yourself in some of the best experiences that nature has to offer. Kadmat is famous for the beautiful lagoon that is found at the island and there are a number of great activities here that one can enjoy. Agatti is often referred to as the gateway to the Lakshadweep and fishing is the main occupation of the people that live on the island. The administrative capital of the Lakshadweep is the Kavaratti Island, which is also the most developed island of the Lakshadweep. Majority of the population at the Kavaratti island consists of non-islanders. Bangaram, famous for having some of the most beautiful beaches on the island, is the most popular tourist destination at the Lakshadweep. There are several wonderful restaurants here that serve some wonderful food and there are a number of clubs where tourists can enjoy a night out.
Many tourists from all over the world visit the Lakshadweep every year because of the wonderful beaches here and the beauty of the islands. There are a number of great hotels here offering great accommodation to the tourists that visit every year.
